Q: Congratulations on winning Panda’s Compost Champion competition! How did you hear about Panda’s Composting Championship?
A: Through email from Panda.
Q: How long have you been a Panda customer, and what do you like most about our composting service?
A: We tried having a compost bin in the garden but it didn’t work well, so the brown bin is a great alternative. And it’s cheaper per kg than the black bin.
Q: Why did you nominate yourself for the Compost Championship?
A: It’s important to recognise people’s efforts to compost.
Q: Spring is now here. Has this seasonal change influenced how you use your compost bin at home?
A: There’s more garden waste going into the brown bin.
Q: What’s your favourite thing about composting?
A: Knowing it’s not going to landfill.
Q: Easter is coming up soon. Do you have any composting tips for managing food waste during celebrations and family gatherings?
A: Serve small portions and offer people seconds, especially with kids, instead of putting too much on their plate the first time. Also, there seems to be a huge increase in the number of Easter eggs kids get these days, so resist the temptation to buy lots of Easter eggs!
Q: Would you encourage others to enter Panda’s Compost Championship?
A: Yes!
Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start composting but isn’t sure how to begin?
A: Make sure the whole family is on board with it, otherwise it will drive you mad. Teach your kids which items to put in the compost bin when they are young. Also, sprinkle some bread soda in the bottom of your kitchen caddy bin, to prevent bad smells.
Q: What will you do with the money you’ve saved?
A: Put it towards a holiday.
