Panda to create 50 jobs in Dublin

A major expansion at Panda Recycling in Dublin will see 50 new jobs created at the firm over the next six months.  Already employing over 650 people in Ireland, the new jobs will be across sales, marketing, legal and operations. The recruitment drive will consolidate Panda Recycling’s position as the largest Irish owned and managed recycling company in the country.

Speaking about the announcement, Mr Brian McCabe, Chief Executive Officer said: “These jobs reflect Panda’s continuing growth and expansion in what is a highly competitive and challenging market.  They are high-end positions that will help us to continue to lead the field in innovation and also to deliver better, faster and cleaner waste management and recycling services to more and more people”.

Panda is Ireland’s largest recycling company with over 175,000 customers mainly in the Leinster region.  The company has experienced strong growth in the past four years, more than doubling its workforce since 2010 (when it employed just 300 people) and increasing turnover by 80% in the period.  This rapid growth was achieved during the height of Ireland’s recession.  The company now plans to invest some €5 million in the business this year, investing in new infrastructure and a new hybrid fleet.

Named Repak Recycling Company of the Year in 2014, Panda operates a Zero landfill policy. This policy translates into several iterations of waste extraction which sees much of it feed into a valuable export business, managed by Panda’s Irish Packaging Recycling (IPR) division.

IPR is the largest trader of recycled fibre in Ireland, trading in excess of 220 thousand tonnes per year.  Panda recycled enough paper in 2014 to save over 3,500,000 trees from deforestation and has also led the roll-out of brown bins to customers enabling more organic material to be diverted from landfill.   The company operates processing facilities in Ballymount, Dublin; Cappagh  and Beauparc in Co. Meath.

Mr McCabe concluded:  “This investment demonstrates our commitment to our customers and to the local Dublin economy.  We will continue to support greater levels of recycling which will benefit the environment, will ensure Ireland meets its recycling targets”.
